The typical working clothes worn by Picasso, Gustav Klimt and Giacometti made Josep Abril design his Armand Basi collection for next spring-summer 2009 season as it was shown in Paris Fashion week-Haute Couture.
Next summer “everything will be pretty big, oversized, very bulky, heavier and made of noble raw materials”, explained Abril before the start of his fashion show held at number 66, Turenne street.
The roof over the metallic catwalk was almost transparent. Models paraded wearing wide Bermuda shorts, diaphanous overalls, short raincoats; wide, drain pipe or baggy trousers combined with wide and long or short jackets; glossy overalls and transparent shirts. A male tunic accessorized with a belt and a jacket was the star of the fashion show.
Basi’s spring-summer 2009 proposal comes in neutral colors and grayish blues, ice, plaster, ivory, white, black and navy blue. Regarding the fabrics, the favorites are cotton, cold wool, silk and ramie.
